PROXIMITY EXHIBITION
By Rochelle Stewart-Allen
The Learning Connexion, Wellington
Eleven artists (all extramural tutors from The Learning Connexion) will explore the theme of proximity in their exhibition which opens at ROAR! Gallery on 5 February. They will look at the ways in which proximity, or the lack of it, becomes manifest in human relationships. The work will be spread across a number of mediums including painting, 3D, installation, printmaking, textiles, and photography.

Unification
|
"There is such diversity and talent across the group," says exhibiting artist, Susan Knaap. "It is fascinating to see how extensively we interpret the same theme."
Susan chose to focus on one painting, Unification, and expresses her concept as spiritual connection through shifting proximity. As the exhibition approaches and opportunities arise to discuss her work, Susan says "It feels like hanging my personal values out on the line. Art is such a private and heart-felt matter, while at the same time, an amazing opportunity to really say something to the viewer."
"Proximity" is being held at ROAR! Gallery, Vivian Street, Wellington from the 5th to the 28th of February 2004.
