WOMAN'S WORK EXHIBITION
Montana Winery, Gisborne - 4-7 June 2004

Quintessence

I was personally invited to exhibit at the Woman's Work exhibition held amongst the steel vats and pipes of the Montana Winery in Gisborne during Queen's Birthday weekend.

The theme for the exhibition was "Harvest" and so I strayed from my usual abstract style into something a little more realistic. I took my inspiration from Thomas Love Peacock's quote "The juice of the grape is the liquid quintessence of concentrated sunbeams".

I created a triptych (three canvases, totalling 3 feet wide by 4 feet long) and used lashings of silver leaf for the sun, glazed over in thin layers of acrylics. It was great fun and I hope to do it again next year. The exhibition was a great success with lots of sales, including my own work (pictured right).
